Viewing Styles in Microsoft Word 2007 and Microsoft Word 2010

Sometimes you use a style but cannot see it in the Styles group.

On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click the Styles dialog box launcher.

The Styles task pane opens at the right of the window.

Click the Manage Styles  button, which is the third of the buttons at the bottom of the task pane. The Manage Styles dialog box opens; click the Recommend tab.

Select any style that you want to appear in the Styles list in the task pane and click the Show button. If there are styles showing in the task pane that you never use, you can select them in the dialog box, then click Hide, so they are no longer showing in the task pane. If there are styles you use frequently and they are currently at the bottom of a long list, so you have to use the scroll bar to select them, use the Move Up button to move them further up the list. Alternatively, click Assign Value to assign them a specific placing in the list. To ensure that the changes take effect on all documents based on the template you are currently using, select New documents based on this template. Once you have selected all styles to be included in your list, click OK.

About jdonbavand

I am a trainer of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Crystal Reports. I have called my blog "If Only I'd Known That...." because I hear it so many times in training sessions. In fact, if only I had a £100 (or 150 Aussie dollars)for every time someone says "If only I'd known that." ....
