Shortcut keys in Microsoft PowerPoint

Some of the shortcut keys shown below are used in other packages in the Microsoft Office suite. All are common to Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2010.

Keystrokes Use
Ctrl + A On Slide tab, selects all objects.On Outline tab,selects all text.

In Slide Sorter view, selects all slides.

In Slide Show view, redisplays hidden pointer or changes the pointer to an arrow

Ctrl + B Emboldens text
Ctrl + C Copies selected text or object
Ctrl + E Centres a paragraph.
Ctrl + F Opens the Find dialog box
Ctrl + H Opens the Replace dialog boxIn Slide Show view, hides the pointer and navigation buttons
Ctrl + I Applies italic formatting
Ctrl + K Inserts a hyperlink
Ctrl + L Aligns text to the left
Ctrl + M Inserts a new slide
Ctrl + N Starts a new presentation
Ctrl + O Opens an existing presentation
Ctrl + P Prints using default settings
Ctrl + R Aligns text to the right
Ctrl + S Saves the presentation
Ctrl + T Opens the Font dialog box
Ctrl + U Underlines text
Ctrl + V Pastes the selected text or object
Ctrl + W Closes the active window
Ctrl + X Cuts the selected text or object
Ctrl + Z Undo the previous action
Home Moves to the beginning of a line
End Moves to the end of a line
Ctrl + Home Moves to the beginning of a text box
Ctrl + End Moves to the end of a text box
Ctrl + Enter Moves to the next title or body text placeholder. If it is the last placeholder on a slide, this will insert a new slide with the same slide layout as the original slide.
Ctrl + ↑ Moves up one paragraph
Ctrl + ↓ Moves down one paragraph
Ctrl + = Applies subscript formatting
Ctrl + Shift + = Applies superscript formatting
Ctrl + Shift + C Copies text formats
Ctrl + Shift + V Pastes text formats

Slide Show shortcut keys

F5 Starts running a slide show from the beginning
N, Enter, Page Down, ↓, →, Spacebar Moves to next slide or next animation
P, Page Up, ↑, ←, Backspace Returns to previous slide or performs the previous animation
Number + Enter Goes to the slide number specified
B or . Displays a blank black slide, or returns to presentation if blank black slide is currently   displayed
W or , Displays a blank white slide, or returns to presentation if blank white slide is currently   displayed
E Erases on-screen annotations
H Goes to next slide, if the next slide is a hidden slide
S Stops or restarts an automatic presentation
Esc Ends a presentation
1 + Enter Goes to first slide
Ctrl + A Redisplays hidden pointer or changes the pointer to an arrow
Ctrl + P Redisplays hidden pointer or changes the pointer to a pen
Ctrl + H Hides the pointer and navigation button immediately
Ctrl + U Hides the pointer and navigation button in 15 seconds
Shift + F10 Displays shortcut menu
Tab Goes to first or next hyperlink on a slide
Shift + Tab Goes to last or previous hyperlink on a slide
