Microsoft Office 2010 –finding unsaved versions

Have you ever inadvertently closed a file without saving the changes and then realised that you had needed to save your changes? In Microsoft Office 2010, versions of files are kept for up to four days even if you haven’t saved them; so, if you went home on Friday evening and realised that you hadn’t saved something that you needed, you could still rescue it on Monday morning and enjoy the weekend in the meantime!

To recover unsaved versions, click on the File tab, then from Info section, click the Manage Versions dropdown and click Recover Unsaved Documents.

A list of unsaved documents will be displayed. Click on the one you want to save, then click Open. You will then be able to edit and save in the usual way.

About jdonbavand

I am a trainer of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Crystal Reports. I have called my blog "If Only I'd Known That...." because I hear it so many times in training sessions. In fact, if only I had a £100 (or 150 Aussie dollars)for every time someone says "If only I'd known that." ....
