Microsoft Excel – Date formatting as day and date

If you type in a date in Excel, it will not by default include the day of the week.

To format it to include the day of week, from the Home tab, in the Number  group, click the dialog box launcher to open the Format cells dialog box with the Number tab uppermost.

From the Category list, click Custom. In the Type box, type in dddd dd mmm yyyy.

A date that you originally type in with the format 31/10/2013 will now read Thursday 31 Oct 2013.

About jdonbavand

I am a trainer of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Crystal Reports. I have called my blog "If Only I'd Known That...." because I hear it so many times in training sessions. In fact, if only I had a £100 (or 150 Aussie dollars)for every time someone says "If only I'd known that." ....
