Microsoft Word – how do I edit links in Word 2007, Word 2010

If you have created a link to an Excel spreadsheet from Microsoft Word and the Excel spreadsheet gets moved to another location on the system, you will need to change the file path within Microsoft Word.

In Word 2007:

  1. Click the Office button, then click Prepare and click Edit Links to Files.

  2. The Links dialog box will be displayed.

  3. Click Change Source. Locate the folder and the file within the folder, then click Open. Click OK. The link will then be updated.

In Word 2010:

Click File – Info. In the Properties section, click Edit Links to Files.

The Edit Links to Files dialog box will be displayed.

Click Change Source. Locate the folder and the file within the folder, then click Open. Click OK. The link will then be updated.
