Microsoft Project – notes – labelling inserted documents

One great feature in Microsoft Project is that you can link relevant documents to tasks within the project so everyone knows where to find them.

To do so, double-click on the relevant task to open up the Task Information dialog box and go to the Notes tab. Click on the Insert Object
button. The Insert Object dialog box will be displayed. Click Create from File.

Click the Browse button and locate the required file.

If you want the note within MS Project to change if the document changes, click the Link checkbox.

If the document your are inserting is small, you can click OK at this point and you will see the document in the note. If it is larger, click the Display As Icon checkbox. Click Change Icon or you will just see Document1 and it will difficult for others to know what the document includes.

The Change Icon dialog box will be displayed.

Type in an appropriate name in the Label text box. Click OK three times.

About jdonbavand

I am a trainer of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Crystal Reports. I have called my blog "If Only I'd Known That...." because I hear it so many times in training sessions. In fact, if only I had a £100 (or 150 Aussie dollars)for every time someone says "If only I'd known that." ....
