E-mailing straight from a Microsoft Office application

If you are in a rush to get an open document e-mailed out to someone, you do not need to go to Microsoft Outlook and locate it on the system and send it as an attachment. Instead you can send it as an attachment from within the open application – Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint.

If using Microsoft Office 2007, to send the open file by e-mail:

  1. Click the Office button.
  2. Point to Send, then click E-mail, E-mail as PDF Attachment or E-mail as XPS Attachment. If the Compatibility Checker appears, click Continue (or Cancel if you want to stop the operation). An e-mail will open in Outlook with the file attached. The   filename will appear in the subject line.
  3. Enter the recipients and message in the usual way.
  4. Click Send.

If using Microsoft Office 2010, to send the open file by e-mail:
