Microsoft Excel – making a PivotChart static

A PivotChart is connected to the PivotTable used to create it so every time you make a change to the PivotTable, the PivotChart automatically changes too. There are occasions when you might not want your PivotChart to change, i.e, you want to make it static.

Right-click the chart you want to make static and click Copy, or press Ctrl + C on the keyboard.

Click where you would like the chart to be placed, then right-click and click from the Paste Options, select the Picture option.

Excel paste options

No changes to your PivotTable will be reflected in this static chart.

About jdonbavand

I am a trainer of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Crystal Reports. I have called my blog "If Only I'd Known That...." because I hear it so many times in training sessions. In fact, if only I had a £100 (or 150 Aussie dollars)for every time someone says "If only I'd known that." ....
