Microsoft Word – revealing exact formatting of text

Sometimes it is difficult to see at a glance the exact formatting of a piece of text. To reveal the formatting, first select the text, then press Shift + F1 on the keyboard. The formatting of the text will be revealed in a pane down the right hand side of the window.

You can then compare this to a different piece of text by checking the Compare to another selection box.
