Microsoft Project – filter for milestones due in the next three months

If you have a project that is long term, you may want to report on milestones due in the next three months. To do so, you will have to create a custom filter.

First we need to create a formula field called Three months from now.

To do so, on the Project tab, click Custom Fields, then from the Type dropdown, select Date.

Click Date1, click Rename and type Three months from now and click OK.

Click Formula, then from the Function dropdown, select ProjDateAdd.

For the date part, from the Field dropdown, select Project – Date – Current Date. For duration we need 90 (days in three months) multiplied by Field – Project – Number – Minutes per day. Click OK twice.

From the View tab and the Filter dropdown, select New Filter.

Enter as shown below:

To use in a report, from the Report tab, then click New Report – Table. Name your report, then click OK. Click within the table, then from the Field List from the Filter dropdown, click Milestones in next three months. From the Outline Level dropdown, select All Subtasks. Select which fields to show in the table, as required.
